Cacatua galerita, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos are large brilliant white birds with an expressive bright yellow crest found in a variety of habitats in northern, eastern and south-eastern Australia. They are bold, charismatic, curious and intelligent with loud raucous calls and piercing screeches. Feed on a variety of seeds, nuts, fruits and insects. When eating they always have a guard watching who will shriek loudly to warn the group when danger is approaching.
White cockatoos are very social birds that live in family groups or large flocks called crackles. They have long lives, mature late, form monogamous life-long partnerships, build nests together in old tree hollows and share the incubation of eggs and feeding the young, who remain with them for sometime. Seen as a symbol of community, collaboration, clear communication, fun, light-heartedness, insight, clarity and new beginnings.
Care instructions: do not wear swimming or bathing.
